Lance Walker, 408 W. Nevada St., made an initial appearance on a assault on a healthcare provider charge, a public intoxication-enhanced-third or subsequent charge and a interference with official acts charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 8. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only. If bond is met then Walker is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 72 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. Immediately after release, Walker is to report to the Marshalltown Police Department to be photographed and fingerprinted. Upon release, Walker will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

Codi James Hofer, 1102 S. Third Ave., made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a failure to have a valid driver’s license charge, a no insurance charge and a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Sept. 9 in Magistrate Court.

Heather Walsingham, 510 W. Main St., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The court appointed Mike Marquess as counsel. A contempt hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 11. Walsingham was released on her own recognizance. A new no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Brian Charles Smith, of Birch Run, Mich., made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a violation of a one-way street designation charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 20. Smith was released on his own recognizance. A substance abuse evaluation was ordered with the results to be submitted within 60 days of today’s date.

Nathan Lucas, 509 W. Church St., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The court appointed Merrill Swartz as counsel. A scheduling hearing to set the contempt hearing is scheduled at 3 p.m. on Aug. 11. Lucas was released on his own recognizance. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Joshwa Marquette Tanner, of Toledo, made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 11 in District Court. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Friday

Ryan Papakee, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a pre-trial violation. The public defender’s office will continue as counsel. His next court date is an arraignment hearing scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 5. The court revoked Papakee’s pre-trial release and entered a bond of $2,000 cash or surety.

Robert Ratliff, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. A parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by Ratliff’s parole officer. No bond was allowed in this case.

Becky Clapsaddle, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a seat belt violation charge. The driving under suspension charge was dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed. Clapsaddle pleaded guilty to the seat belt violation and the fine is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $132.50. All payments are due within 30 days of today’s date.

Quentin Tyme Hafner, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty to the charge and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320, due within 30 days.

The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 21. Harriman was released on his own recognizance.

Rusty Ray Mann, of Dike, made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320, due within 30 days.

Michael Lynn McNeill, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge and a speeding charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On the driving under suspension and no insurance charges the fines are $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 for each charge. The fine on the speeding charge is $80 with a $28 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $168. All payments are due within 30 days of today’s date.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an outside rubbish fire at 508 S. Fifth St., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 402 N. Fourth Ave., 2 N. Second Ave., 1701 Elder Drive, 102 S. Fifth Ave., 209 N. Fifth Ave., 100 S. Center St., 3120 S. Second St., and 1309 Rolling Meadows Road.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system sounded due to malfunction at 212 W. Ingledue St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1907 Summit St., 2220 Edgebrook Drive, 707 Jerome St., 1506 Laurel Drive, 116 N. First Ave., and on South 18th Avenue.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a gas leak at 908 Jackson St., an over-pressure rupture from steam at 1301 Summit St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 11 W. Grant St., 1412 W. Church St., and 206 W. High St.
