Cyclones to play Alabama; Iowa to tussle with Texas
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Iowa State men’s basketball team will play Alabama in the semifinals of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic on Nov. 24 at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced Wednesady.
Arizona State and Maryland will meet in the other semifinal matchup at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
The championship game will be played Nov. 25 at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU following the consolation game, which will be shown on ESPN3.
Alabama, which finished 13-19 in 2013-14, is the third SEC opponent on the Cyclones’ schedule. Iowa State will host Arkansas on Dec. 4 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, while also meeting South Carolina at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 3, 2015.
Hawkeyes to face Texas in 2K Classic
IOWA CITY – The championship rounds of the 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project begin with the Iowa men’s basketball team squaring off against Texas, followed by Syracuse meeting California in a semifinal doubleheader at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 20.
After playing a pair of regional games on campus, the four schools will travel to New York for the championship rounds of the 2K Classic. In the first game, the Hawkeyes and Longhorns tipoff at 6 p.m. The Golden Bears and Orange play the nightcap at approximately 8:30 p.m. Both contests will be televised on ESPN2.
Panthers get national TV spot at Stephen F. Austin
CEDAR FALLS – The Northern Iowa men’s basketball team will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas, to take on Stephen F. Austin Nov. 18 as a part of ESPN’s 24-hour College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.
The game will tip at 8 a.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.
Stephen F. Austin posted a 32-3 mark last season and reached the third round of the NCAA tournament. The Lumberjacks have won 33 straight home games entering the 2014-15 season – a mark which is tied with Duke for the nation’s longest home-court winning streak.
