Upward Basketball league set to begin

Practices for the annual Upward Basketball league will begin on Oct. 12 and the games kick off a few weeks later as registration forms for the event are now available at The Sports Page, Sports Plus, Stepping Stones Bookstore and many area churches.

The league is for boys and girls in first through sixth grade and last season 287 players took part in the league, which plays games on Saturdays at both Lenihan and Miller Middle School.

The league is $70 and that includes an Upward Basketball game jersey, practice T-shirt and postseason awards.

All players are required to attend one of two player evaluation sessions. The first session is Aug. 24 from 3-6 p.m. and the final session is Aug. 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Both sessions will be at New Hope Christian Church, which is located at 3901 South Center Street.
