Bobcat JV golfers beat Waterloo East

Proving its depth down the lineup, the Marshalltown boys golf “Red” and “Blue” junior varsity teams defeated the Waterloo East JV at Elmwood Country Club Monday.

The JV Red cruised to a winning score of 347 – 28 strokes ahead of the Blue team, while the Trojans’ JV came through at 454.

Colton Hanke captured medalist honors shooting a 15-over 85 to finish two strokes ahead of runners-up Luke Appel and Grant Thimesch. Hunter Riedl’s 88 rounded out the Red team’s score.

Kyle Johnson carded an 89 to pace the Blue. Ben Snyder (93), Mason Huntley (95) and Tyler Reeder (98) completed the team tally.

The Marshalltown varsity returns to action on Aug. 25 in the Mark Mann Invitational at Mason City Country Club. Tee time is 10 a.m.

The Bobcat JV will face Newton at Westwood Golf Course on Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m.
